In the long run, it pays off

I have been in physical therapy and under doctors care for my back since approximately October.  My doctor, at my first visit, discussed my obesity.  Before I left WA, I weight about 50 pounds some lighter.  Immediately following that doctor appointment, I then headed to my first physical therapy appointment.  I have to admit, I was not too hopeful it it making a difference.  Two weeks ago, I began taking my health more serious.  I only have one body for the rest of my life.  How my body feels affects my job and my emotional health.  I have been going to the gym 3 to 4 times per week working on the bike and the treadmill.  I have been completing my physical therapy activities 5 to 6 times per week.  This week at work, I could feel a difference with my body.  I'm always on and off the floor with my kids.  In the past, I would struggle so much to get up off the floor.  This week, that struggle has diminished significantly.  I can also tell that my core muscles (muscles in the abdomen) has gotten stronger.  I'm able to engage these muscle when completing daily activities (like getting off the floor).  I have lost approximately 4 to 5 pounds since starting this journey.  I'm not eating out and cooking my meals on my three day weekends.  As far as the back pain, it has diminished some.  Because I'm unable to take tylenol or other over the counter pain relievers, I have a home electrical stimulation machine that I can throw on during or after working.  This machine helps break some of the pain cycle.  Over all, I love feeling the benefits of my hard work.  Its not easy working 10 some hours and then getting to the gym for 45 minutes.  Hard work does pay off!

  1. I'm so proud of you for getting to the gym after those long days. It's quite a commitment on your part, and obviously paying off!
