Christmas Memories

During the last several days, maybe I should say weeks, childhood Christmas memories were alway lingering in my head.  Last week, while I was working in Caldwell (small town right outside to Nampa which I work at 1 time a week) we were digging out Christmas decor to add a little spice to the place.  Within their decor, they had sever place mats that they hang on the walls (never knew you could use dinner place mats for wall decor).  One of them happen to be an exact replica of place mats that we use to use when I was little.  I immediately had a smile on my face.  The ladies around me kept asking why I was laughing at this mat.  I took a picture of me beside it, I had to text mom/dad as well as Nicole.  Unfortunately, some how that picture got erased from my memory card in my phone.

This weekend, Nicole's family and I went to the live Christmas tree at the College Church of Nazarene.  Two years ago, while I still was living in WA, mom and dad flew out and had a Christmas with me.  While there, we also attended a live Christmas tree with a few of mom's friends from when they met at Lucas (I think that is how they met?!).

I looked at the Calendar and couldn't believe how time is passing by so quickly.  I have 16 days left until I'm on a flight heading back home to ND.  I'm hoping to connect up with a childhood friend and family. I'm also hoping that someone has some deer sausage or meat (rhonda and shannon).  I'm so excited to come home this year.  I can't believe that I haven't been back for a Christmas in almost 4 years or so.  At least since I have left ND.

In the next few weeks, I am looking forward to making a few Christmas goodies.  Nicole wants my gingerbread cookies, maybe this year I will have to find an icing recipe for decoration.  On the 19th, I will celebrate Christmas with Nicole, Nick and Finley by opening gifts and taking a polar express train ride.

This year, I don't feel so wrapped up in the mumble and jumble of shopping for gifts.  I am able to take the time and look at the meaning of this season.  I love this feeling and it gives such a totally different aspect/picture of what this time is suppose to be as well as meaning.
