Trails

Typically when a person is out skiing, hiking, or snowshoeing a person follows a trail.  I decided to search out the definition of a trail to come across this:

intransitive verb
1 a : to hang down so as to drag along or sweep the ground b : to extend over a surface in a loose or straggling manner trails over the ground> c : to grow to such length as to droop over toward the ground <trailing branches of a weeping birch>
2 a : to walk or proceed draggingly, heavily, or wearily  b : to lag behind : do poorly in relation to others
3 : to move, flow, or extend slowly in thin streams
4 a : to extend in an erratic or uneven course or line
5 : to follow a trail : track game
transitive verb
1 a : to draw or drag loosely along a surface : allow to sweep the ground
2 a : to drag (as a limb or the body) heavily or wearily b : to carry or bring along as an addition, burden, or encumbrance c : to draw along in one's wake
3 a : to follow upon the scent or trace of  b : to follow in the footsteps of  c : to follow along behind d : to lag behind

I found my results to be interesting and how they could be applied to life's circumstances.  While snowshoeing yesterday, I found that we started on a specific trail to end up on a different trail. The initial trail was to be short and fairly easy.  However, the adventure to the other trail ended up to be most difficult.  Life can be compared to the adventure of my snowshoeing event.  At times in life, we find our self on a smooth trail.  However, that smooth trail can lead into a trail that may go downhill or uphill.  While climbing uphill on the black diamond trail, I found myself just wanting to sit down and rest.  I was sweating, short of breath, my muscle ached.  There are times in my life where I find myself struggling.  I'm sure we all have found ourselves this way at one point.  On the contrary, I find myself being content with my trail and following a smooth path.  We never know when we might get onto another trail and know where it might lead.  Luckily yesterday, the trail that picked us up ended to lead to the lodge.  Life is an adventure, a trail that leads to different paths.  There is one path though that doesn't change... The path to Jesus Christ.

  1. So true indeed. Glad the trail you were on Saturday led you out of the Boise National Forest eventually. ;)
