Meet Puzzle

On November 10th, I brought home a new addition to my house.  This addition has been in the process for quite some time.  After giving Doodles a new home, knowing it was the best for him and me, I had to take a break from having a dog.  During that brake, I was given a few opportunities to dog sit for my neighbors bichon.  After my first dog sit, there was no way I wanted a dog.  However, things changed after my last one.  Things have been tough lately regarding my health and finding joy.  I have been through multiple medical tests trying to figure out what was causing my heart to beat so fast.  While going through that process, I was also being tested to figure out my hormones to rule out polycystic ovarian syndrome.  Come to figure out, it was determined that I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and that was causing some of my increase heart rate.  I was so relieved to get a diagnoses that explained so much of me.  Okay, back to the reason why I introducing you to Puzzle.  I spent quite a bit of time on the phone to mom and dad crying and frustrated.  Mom kept putting the words "you need to get a dog," in my ears.  I finally, after some time, told her she was right.  After all, mothers and fathers are always right!  So I told myself that I would start looking, but be in no hurry to find my new friend.  By accident, because I had extra time on my hands one Saturday, I stopped by the Meridian animal shelter.  I kept telling myself not to get emotionally about seeing so many dogs behind cages.  I walked down the line, spending a little time with each dog.  Then I came to Puzzle.  He ran straight up to the gate and started licking my fingers with that tail wagging so fast.  A volunteer asked if I would like to see him.  I hesitated, but said yes.  Off to the outside play area we went.  Puzzle ran into my lap and cuddled right in.  Before I knew it, I had felt so much happiness and a warm feeling in my heart.  I called Nicole telling her I found my friend and that I would like to have Fin come meet him before I could really say yes.  Fin wasn't able to meet Puzzle until the next day.  But just couldn't let this dog go.  So, i filled out the adoption papers but fait ahead.  The next day, Puzzle did great with Fin.  I was so relieved and excited.  Puzzle is about 20 or so pounds.  His breed mix is unknown, however, they suspect corgi mix.  Puzzle was in the shelter for about a month before I became his new mom.  He was found chained up at a camp sight, in which they had to cut off the chain.  Puzzle is approximately 10 years, give or take.  Puzzle has warmed up and adapted quite well.  There have been a few accidents as we have developed our schedule.  He doesn't mind the crate when I leave, not a picky eater, does great the the leash and at the green belt (a walking path in which many people feed the duckies).  He doesn't mind other dogs or cats.  It is so nice to have someone back in the house with me. I am so thankful for my parents encouraging me to step ahead and encouraging me.
